Finding your way around ESX Academy
A short walkthrough for registering, enrolling in modules, working through your lessons, and earning your certificate on the Ethiopian Securities Exchange's digital learning platform.
Before you begin
A quick look at how the Academy is set up, so the steps below make sense.
Works on any device
The Academy is fully responsive. Sign up and study from a phone, tablet, or computer without losing your place.
A structured path
Modules are numbered 1 to 12 and build on each other. Progress step by step rather than jumping around.
Certificates along the way
Finish Module 5 for a Beginner certificate and Module 10 for an Intermediate certificate, awarded on a prerequisite basis.

Six steps from opening the site for the first time to holding a certificate.

Create your account
From the homepage, select Join Now in the top menu. Fill in your details to register as a student.
- Use an email address you check regularly, It’s how you’ll sign back in and reset your password if needed.
- Registration is open to anyone learning about the Ethiopian capital markets.

Sign in
Return to the site and select Login. Enter your email and password to login.

Browse the module list
Open Courses to see all modules, from an introduction to the financial sector through to brokerage business and institutional investment.
- You can browse the module list without signing in, but you’ll need an account to enroll and open lesson content.
- Modules 1 – 5 cover foundational concepts; later modules go deeper into specific topics like risk, valuation, and Sharia-compliant markets.

Enroll in a module
Open a module and select Enroll Course. It’s added to your dashboard so you can pick up right where you left off.
- Beginner certificate: Modules 1 – 5 must be completed; you can download the certificate at Module 5.
- Intermediate certificate: Modules 6 – 10 must be completed; you can download the certificate at Module 10.
- Advanced certificate at module 11: Modules 1 – 11 must be completed; you can download the certificate at Module 11.
- Advanced certificate at module 12: Modules 1 – 10 and 12 must be completed; you can download the certificate at Module 12.

Work through a module
Each module is broken into lessons. Read or watch each one, then complete the built-in exercises. These reinforce what you’ve just learned and check your understanding before you move on.
- Finish lessons within a module. Make sure to mark each lesson that you have taken. You will find a mark as complete button to update your progress.
- If a module has a longer runtime, feel free to split it across a few sessions.

Earn your certificate
Complete every lesson and exercise through Module 5 to unlock your Beginner certificate. Keep going through Module 10 to unlock the Intermediate certificate.
Once you have completed the prerequisites, open the module and select View certificate to download your certificate.
Frequently Asked Questions
A few things students often ask when getting started.
Do I need an account just to look at the module list?
No the Courses page is open to everyone. You’ll only be asked to register or sign in once you try to enroll in a module or open its lessons.
Can I skip ahead to a later module?
You can enroll in any module, but the content and certificates are designed as a prerequisite-based sequence, so working through them in order will make the later modules easier to follow.
I forgot my password?
Select “Forgot Password?” on the Login page, enter the email address you registered with, and follow the link sent to your inbox to set a new one.
Are the courses in-person?
No the courses are not in-person. The are provided fully online. The Academy platform is fully responsive, so you can sign up, enroll, and complete lessons from a phone or tablet as well as a computer.
How do I earn a certificate?
Certificates unlock automatically once you’ve completed every lesson and exercise up to that point; a Beginner certificate after Module 5, and an Intermediate certificate after Module 10.
